The 980nm Diode Laser is specifically designed for nail fungus treatment. During your treatment, our laser technician directs a laser beam slowly across the nail bed.
The energy of the laser beam is absorbed by the underlying fungal colony. The thermal energy heats and denaturalizes the enzymes within the fungus and impairs its ability to replicate and grow.
Clients feel a warm sensation during the procedure, which lasts approximately 2 minutes per toenail. There may be some discomfort or a slight heat sensation but most clients find it very tolerable. All ten finger or toes will be treated, even if no symptoms are present, to prevent any spread of the fungi spores. No anesthetic is required.
Working Theory:
1.The 980nm diode laser emit pulses of energy that impart heat to tissue such as nails and skin. The laser energy penetrates through the toenail to the nail bed where the fungus is likely also present.
2.The laser is believed to exert antifungal activity by killing the mold or fungal organisms. When these microbes absorb the heat, they are destroyed.3 Pulsing the laser or using selected wavelengths helps minimize heat on the skin, which reduces the risk of bleeding and pain.
3.There may also be other, still-unidentified factors at play which aid in clearing the infection.
